It looks like the canvas fold-back roof is back, with the incredible Renault 4 Plein Sud launching their version in the summer, but now it’s FIAT turn as they introduce a new Topolino Dolcevita, providing one of the least expensive EVs with an opening soft-top roof.
Technically, the all-electric Fiat Topolino is a compact quadricycle and that means some compromises are made, with its top speed limited to 28 mph for instance. However, if driven in a city that top speed may rarely be reached.
The Topolino is therefore designed for short journeys in towns, cities and private environments, but now - thanks to the Dolcevita edition - customers can zip around town with the breeze rushing over their heads, or through their hair - depending on follicle count.
FIAT claims “the opening soft-top roof was exclusive to special edition models previously but is now available as part of the wider Topolino line-up, with UK orders open through selected retailers.”
The FIAT Topolino hasn’t made our shores until this summer, whilst its sister car the Citroen Ami launched in the U.K. in 2022. There are distinct differences between the two with many claiming the Topolino is a better choice, if not more expensive.
For a start, there’s a slight look of the 500 around the front in the Topolino to differentiate it from the Ami. But FIAT made other changes, such as placing the driver selector near the steering wheel vs by the seat base in the Ami.
The Topolino is available to order through selected U.K. retailers. Prices start from £8,995 on-the-road with the new Topolino Dolcevita available from £9,495 on-the-road.
