Škoda Updates its Electric SUV Line-up for 2026

Škoda has updated its Enyaq, Enyaq Coupe and Elroq SUVs with Volkswagen Group’s latest raft of updates as reported earlier this month with the Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 with significant updates to its interiors and technology.

Updates to the Škoda Enyaq and Elroq include new “Simply Clever” elements, improved digital functions and assistant systems, plus a modernised infotainment following customer feedback.

The “Simply Clever” element adds a new frunk with under-bonnet storage, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) bi-directional charging, a Digital Key from your smart phone, and Qi2 Magnetic Power wireless charging up to 25W. The USB-C ports can support device charging up to 45W.

Additionally, Škoda has also added one-pedal driving features via a B-Mode for maximum regeneration that makes stop-start traffic a breeze.

Infotainment

The Enyaq and Elroq now feature anAndroid-based infotainment system for the first time, with a new look and feel over Škoda’s outgoing system. There is also a redesigned home screen with a ‘favourites’ and search function, plus there are customization options, too.

An because Škoda have opted for an Android based system, there is a new app store for adding more applications to the infotainment system, including Škoda apps and selected third-party apps such as Spotify and YouTube, along with audio and video streaming apps, gaming, news, weather and much more.

Digital Key
Škoda vehicles can now access a new digital key pairing the customers mobile phone with the vehicle via the MyŠkoda app.
Customers can lock, unlock, and start the vehicle with their smartphone present, plus they can share the digital key in the Škoda app, via the smartphone’s built-in wallet app without having to hand over a physical key.

Powerpass and Plug&Charge news
Škoda has its own proprietary charging service called Powerpass which is now integrated directly into the navigation, showing charging-station ratings, prices and enabling charging authorisation straight from the navigation screen for a simpler, plug-in, walk-away charging experience.

Travel Assist 3.0
Travel Assist 3.0 receives new radars and sensors to deliver more precise lane guidance, smoother speed control and broader safety functions on motorways.

Assisted Lane Change provides automatic lane changing on motorways and Emergency Assist can even manoeuvre to the hard shoulder if the driver becomes unresponsive.

In a more urban setting, Travel Assist 3.0 will stop the vehicle at traffic lights or STOP signs enhancing assisted driving in urban areas, but this will be up to regulatory approval in the country the car is being driven.

New Safety Features
Corner radars have been added to the front and rear bumpers for improved Crossroad Assist at junctions where visibility is limited, detecting vehicles approaching from the side including smaller vehicles, such as motorcycles, cyclists and e-scooters.

A new interior camera monitors driver attention and fatigue via eye-tracking with alerts if the car detects waning attention or driver distraction.

It seems that Volkswagen Group and Škoda have listened to customer feedback and implemented a raft of updates that has undoubtedly given a good car some great improvements.
Keeping cars fresh and aligned to the fast pace of change with car technology is getting tougher, and meeting new expectations from customers that may have their eyes swerved towards more tech-focused competition from Chinese brands requires a continuous improvement program. It’s great to see brands like Volkswagen and Škoda keeping apace with the competition.
