Wild New Nissan JUKE to go Electric in its 3rd Generation Launching Next Year

Nissan has a reputation for defining new market segments launching the Qashqai in 2007, a crossover SUV design more for practical family life and based on traditional car underpinnings, but with an elevated ride height.
At the time C-segment SUV’s were utilitarian and often built on bespoke off-road architecture making for a less dynamic drive and less desirable looks.
Nissan changed this perception combining car-like dynamics, with SUV practicality and a lofty ride height.

But Nissan didn’t stop there. In 2010 it launched a compact crossover called the Juke and established another new segment that manufacturers have since filled with a flurry of offerings.
The Juke was revolutionary for its era as it offered more space and practicality over B-Segment hatchbacks bringing greater appeal to small cars. It also introduced quirky features such as the centre console taking design cues from motorbike fuel tanks and it worked as the Juke has sold 1.5 million units across Europe since its inception.

Now the all-new, and all-electric JUKE has been revealed at Nissan’s Vision event in the company’s global headquarters in Japan. It sets Nissan apart from other Japanese manufacturers as it forges ahead with an electrification strategy, just as some of its domestic competitors are shrinking from the electric car market.

Nissan is also major contributor to European markets and expanding its electrification strategy in Europe couldn’t be better timed just as the region’s electric vehicle market grows.
Nissan has 15 years of EV experience, and an expanding electric vehicle portfolio - locally built - that will help it meet customer demands for a rapidly growing EV market.

Gen 3
Nissan has taken a new direction with the JUKE. It may offer a similar silhouette to the outgoing Gen 2 car, but this new electric JUKE has been reimagined setting it apart from a sea of similar sized compact crossovers by giving it very distinguishable, and striking design cues.

The all-new electric JUKE – built on Nissan’s CMF-EV platform - joins the new MICRA, third-generation LEAF, Ariya and Townstar LCV, as well as a new A-segment EV set to arrive late this year, or early next year.

The JUKE EV will join the third-generation LEAF in offering Vehicle-to-Grid technology, providing greater flexibility to customers where the grid permits, the car can be used to power the home, for example.

Massimiliano Messina, Chairman, Nissan AMIEO saidEurope is central to Nissan’s electrification strategy, and we remain firmly committed to a fully electric future. With a rapidly expanding EV line-up, we are bringing greater choice and innovation to every segment, powered by our strong design, engineering and manufacturing footprint in the region. Together, this next generation of vehicles will accelerate our transition to zero-emission mobility.”

European Built
And it’s great news for U.K. manufacturing as Nissan has confirmed that the all-new, all-electric JUKE will be built at its Sunderland Plant in the North East, cementing the factory as a pivotal role in the company’s global EV strategy.
With the new LEAF already being assembled there, the first trial phase of JUKE production will start in the next few weeks.

Clíodhna Lyons, Region Vice President, Product, Brand & Marketing Strategy, Nissan AMIEO summed their new compact crossover up: “JUKE has always stood for bold design and a willingness to challenge convention. With this third generation, we are bringing that spirit into the electric age. As our first fully electric JUKE, it will help us reach new customers while expanding choice across our electrified range.”

The third-generation all-new JUKE is due to be launched in spring 2027.
