New Volkswagen ID.3 Neo Specs Announced with more Range and more Buttons

As we reported back in March, Volkswagen has given its hatchback a thorough rework and a new name with its new ID.3 Neo.

We can now reveal the largest battery option for the ID.3 Neo will be good for 391 miles of range on the WLTP test cycle.

Updates to the exterior sharpen the ID.3 design up with a new front and rear lights and a new front facia, with illuminated VW badges. The design leans more on the Golf looks, which is no bad thing.

However, its inside that sees the biggest updates with an all-new dashboard with intuitive button controls, improved material quality and a distinctive and attractive horizontal layout.
The focus on bringing back buttons means that Volkswagen say they’re now tactile and intuitive to use for the central functions of the car, although the central 12.9-inch touchscreen still dominates.

The steering wheel now has a nice flat bottom to it and the drivers display is now 10.25-inches with improved graphics.

There are three electric drive motors and three battery options:

125 kW (170 PS) with a 50 kWh battery
140 kW (190 PS) with a 58 kWh battery
170 kW (231 PS) with a 79 kWh battery

The 50 kWh and 58 kWh batteries charge at a peak 105 kW on a DC rapid charger with the larger 79 kWh pack able to charge at a 186 kW peak.

The new ID. models have the new Innovision infotainment system and a new app store, which has been integrated into the infotainment system.
It brings smartphone-like apps for audio, video streaming, parking, charging and gaming being made available for downloading.

As with Volkswagen Group cars, the options list is quite extensive and includes optional equipment such as an augmented-reality head-up display, a large panoramic sunroof, 360-degree Area View, a massage and memory function for the front seats, a premium sound system from Harman Kardon, the memory function for Park Assist Pro and a removable bracket for mounting a bicycle carrier for tow bars (up to 75 kg tow bar load).

It’s a shame these options aren’t included in different trim levels as - when chosen - they can add up to a significant price hike making their cars less competitive against Chinese rivals who offer more standard equipment allied to the trim level.

Pre-sales of the electric compact model will start in Germany and many European markets tomorrow, Thursday 16 April 2026.
