Polestar Teases its new 4 SUV with a Surprise Addition

The Polestar 4 launched back in January 2024 as a premium crossover coupé; a low-slung SUV controversially with the rear windscreen deleted and a body coloured panel taking its place.

To ensure drivers could see behind them, a camera feed was sent to a display that mimicked the rear view mirror. But, this didn’t put customers off as the Polestar 4 has had a great deal of success, having found nearly 20,000 homes since it’s launch.

However, Polestar is about to add a large dollop of family appeal as it launches its full SUV version, complete with a rear windscreen, as alluded to earlier in the year with a previous teaser image.
What’s not known is whether Polestar retains the camera, or whether it has added a rear view mirror to its latest SUV.

Set to rival the BMW iX3 and Mercedes GLC EQ, an dbuilding on the success of the Polestar 4 coupé, the SUV adds a touch of family practicality to it’s stylish premium car, and this new variant offers a dose more storage, while retaining key design elements, as well as outstanding performance, without losing sight of its well-earned sustainability credentials.

Michael Lohscheller, Polestar CEO, says:

Polestar 4 has quickly established itself as a favourite among our customers, and we've seen strong demand from drivers who want distinctive design and performance combined with great practicality. With Polestar 4 SUV, we're building on that success by offering even more versatility, while staying true to the Polestar 4 character. Wrapped in a stunning design, this is a car I've been looking forward to sharing with the world.”

Polestar 4 SUV

The Polestar 4 retains its 400 V architecture with the SUV variant providing a range up to 630 km, or 391 miles on the WLTP combined test cycle for the Rear motor variants.

The dual motor is the most powerful version with up to 544 hp, which should make for very brisk driving.

The Polestar 4 SUV is manufactured in Busan, South Korea, and will be available to order in a majority of Polestar markets, with sales starting on 2 September.
