New KIA EV2 Qualifies for the U.K. Electric Car Grant

The KIA EV2 ‘Air’, ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’ Long Range now qualify for the full £3,750 U.K. Electric Car Grant (ECG)

Priced from just £24,245, the EV2 Long Range enters the market having attracted the full grant on the 61 kWh NMC battery pack. However, for those seeking to get their hands on the EV2 ‘First Edition’ at launch, it will only receive the £1,500, Band 2 ECG grant thanks to a smaller, less compliant 42.2 kWh LFP battery pack.

Therefore, the maximum Band 1 grant applies to EV2 variants equipped only with the 61.0kWh Long Range battery. These models receive a higher standard specification, as well as offering up to 275 miles from a single charge on the WLTP test cycle.

However, the EV2 ‘First Edition’ receives the lower Government Electric Car Grant, getting a £1,500 discount from its on-the-road price and available from £26,995 on-the-road.

Kia says the EV2, EV3, EV4 and PV5 Passenger are all available with the ECG discount, albeit with a mix of Band 1 £3,750 or Band 2 £1,500 grants.

Prices for all KIA EV2 models are shown below including prices before and after the EV Car Grant has been applied, along with battery capacity sizes:

EV2 ‘Air’ LR (61.0kWh): £27,995 with a £3,750 grant applied = £24,245 OTR

EV2 ‘First Edition’ SR (42.2kWh): £28,495 with a £1,500 grant applied = £26,995 OTR

EV2 ‘GT-Line’ LR (61.0kWh): £31,905 with a £3,750 grant applied = £28,995 OTR

EV2 ‘GT-Line S’ LR (61.0kWh): £35,505 with a £3,750 grant applied = £32,595 OTR
