Polestar to Launch the 5 and Announces More New Cars

Polestar has announced a flurry of new cars arriving over the next 2 years with some exciting new products, starting with the all new 5 launching in the summer of 2026.

Polestar 5 GT

The 5 is a 4-door Grand Tourer set to rival Jaguar’s new 4-door GT and is classed as Polestar’s halo car, so expect high-end, long range, an exquisitely appointed interior with a huge performance from the new 5.
Developed by the the UK’s R&D team, the 5 sits on the 800v Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA) and packing 884 hp and 900 NM of torque from its dual motors.

Made extensively with sustainable materials and embedded Google Android OS, the Polestar 5 is expected to start from €119,000.

What else is in the pipeline?

The current Polestar 4 is a Coupe SUV that has been on sale since January 2024 and is Polestar’s current best seller. However, a new variant of the 4 is launching this year offering more versatility.

With deliveries expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2026, the new 4 variant could be a more SUV focused offering with a larger, more practical boot and what looks like roofrails (based on the blurred top part of the image), possibly rivalling the new Toyota bZ4X Touring as a more luxurious option.

What about the ageing 2?

A new generation of the hugely popular Polestar 2, the car which really ignited enthusiasm for the brand when it launched in 2020, is set to get an all new, ground up saloon car, to be launched in 2027.
Originally based on Volvo XC40 architecture, with a somewhat compact interior thanks to a transmission tunnel holding the batteries sitting in a T-shape spine within the car, it will be interesting to see how the all-new 2 compares when it launches next year.

What else?

Lastly, the new Polestar 7, a compact premium SUV is planned for launch in 2028 and set to target a growing sector for premium downsized SUV’s.

Polestar is confident that the 7 will be their most profitable car yet as they will build it on an all-new flexible platform. Polestar also confirmed that it will gradually move it’s range of cars from multi-platforms to this new flexible platform approach to reduce production complexities, cost and driving efficiency.

The start of a new era with Polestar begins with the new 7.
