BYD Launches Updated 2026 SEAL
The BYD Seal launched in the U.K. in 2023 competing for sales in the rapidly growing EV market. And it gained a fair amount of traction with its high spec list, well appointed interior and robust LFP batteries.
Three years after it’s launch there are revisions made to the 2026 model year to keep it competitive whilst maintaining the same starting price of £45,730.
BYD’s new 19-Inch wheel
What’s Changed?
There are new 19-inch wheels offering a more composed stance, plus there are three new exterior colour options to join the existing choice. The new colours are Ruby Red, Obsidian Black and Lavender Grey.
Inside the Seal has received some major improvements with the boot capacity increasing from 400 litres to a competitive 485 litres.
The front trunk has also increased in size by 19 litres offering a very useful 72 litres of storage and large enough for a carry-on case, so BYD claims.
Tech Upgrades
A driver monitoring system has been added that detects when a driver loses attention of the road.
However, BYD now offers a bluetooth key meaning owners can access their cars via their smartphone with keyless entry and a physical key does not need to be present. Simply walk up to the car with your phone in your pocket, or on your peson, and it should unlock and allow you to start the car.
The other update is available only on the top-spec Excellence trim featuring a new head-up display.

Drivetrain Improvements
The dual motor all-wheel drive Excellence offers 523 bhp and 670 NM of torque that can rocket the Seal from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. The semi-adaptive suspension should keep the car poised.
Even the single motor rear-wheel drive is un-slow managing the same sprint in a rather spritely 5.9 seconds.
The BYD batteries remain unchanged for now featuring their signature Cobalt free, LFP battery pack for both the Design and Excellence.
In the Design trim, the 82.5 kWh pack offers up 354 miles of WLTP range from a full charge with the Excellence, priced at £48,730, providing 323 miles of range thanks to the addition of that front motor.
Both versions take 37 minutes to charge from 10-80% via the 150 kW onboard CCS charger.
