Nearly 400 miles of range from the refreshed Renault Scenic
Renault seems to be busy with product launches this year, from the fantastic Renault Twingo, to the updated Renault 4 and 5, and the refreshed Megane, But now the Scenic gets an upgrade, too.
Renault says the “Scenic E-Tech electric has been significantly enhanced for the 2027 model year, with a new battery delivering increased range and faster charging, alongside design refinements, upgraded interior finishes and additional technology as standard.”
Battery, Range and Charging
A new 89 kWh NMC battery powers the updated Renault Scenic offering up to 392 miles of WLTP range, which is up from 381 miles over the outgoing 87 kWh battery.
DC rapid charging performance has also improved, with a 15–80% charge now nine minutes (or 24%) quicker than before, taking just 28 minutes from its 150 kW onboard DC charger.
An 11 kW AC onboard charger remains standard across the range, together with battery pre-conditioning for DC charging. However, most domestic outlets will charge at 7 kW from a single-phase supply.
Vehicle-to-Load bi-directional charging ins included, albeit an adapter is an option. However this feature will be able to power external devices, such as power tools, e-bike batteries plus much more.
Standard Features, Trims and Prices
The MY27 Scenic E-Tech comes with more standard equipment, such as a new ventilated Qi2 15W wireless smartphone charger.
Google Gemini powers the UI in the car and is joined with the openR link system with Google services built-in, including an AI Assistant allowing more natural conversational interaction with the car, whether that’s commands, asking about the news, sport or weather or finding out what amenities are available at the destination.
Smart Mode is also included which automatically adapts the Multi-Sense driving mode according to the way the vehicle is being driven.
There’s also an active driver assist, predictive eco driving assistance, blind spot warning, rear automatic emergency braking and rear cross traffic alert available across the range.
All trims are fitted with a standard heat pump for efficient winter driving as is battery pre-conditioning for DC charging.
Unlike the Megane’s two-trim choice, the Scenic is offered with the following three trims:
Techno (£33,245)
The Techno comes with 19-inch ‘cinetic’ black diamond cut alloy wheels, full LED headlights with adaptive LED front and rear fog lights (AFS), tinted rear windows, powered tailgate, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, front, rear and side parking sensors and rear parking camera, plus much more.
Techno Esprit Alpine (£36,245)
Adding to the Techno trim are 20-inch ‘speedway’ black diamond cut alloy wheels, enhanced exterior styling, whilst the interior gets titanium black recycled embossed fabric/quilted recycled textured coated fabric upholstery with blue stitching
Front electric seats with 6-way adjustment, 2-way lumbar adjustment and massage function on the driver’s seat are also included.
Iconic Esprit Alpine (£38,245)
Adding to the Techno Esprit Alpine trim is Solarbay® opacifying panoramic sunroof, two-tone metallic paint, high-fidelity Harman Kardon® audio system, 9 speakers, hands-free parking, 360° around view 3D camera and a smart rear-view mirror
Performance
The Scenic gets the same motor as the Megane - a 220 hp, 300 Nm motor which powers the car from 0-62 mph in an agreeable 7.9 seconds.
It also gets the same psuedo McPherson structs up front with multilink suspension at the rear for confident road holding and driving comfort.
Space and Storage
The Scenic is a C-Segment Crossover at 4.4 meters in length, and yet interior space should be good from the 2,785 mm wheelbase.
The boot gets a very decent 545 litres of cargo space with the rear seats up, plus a further 53.8 litres of storage under the boot floor which is ideal for storing the charging cables.
Fold those rear seats flat and the storage increases to a very practical 1,670 litres. However, there is no frunk (front compartment) storage under the bonnet.
On Sale
The updated Scenic range will be available to order in the UK from 1st October, with prices starting from £33,245 OTR after the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant.
