Hot New Genesis GV60 Magma Specs Released
Genesis, the luxury arm of the Hyundai Group, has revealed its first performance car with the GV60 Magma.
The Highlights
Offered in a subtle shade of liquid hot magma, the performance GV60 gets the latest 84 kWh battery and two powerful motors turning out a huge 650 HP.
There’s a new MAGMA button with SPRINT mode and GT mode plus a BOOST button for an extended power boost. More on that later.
It also features a Virtual Gearshift to engage the drivers senses and, for a little on-track fun, there’s a Drift Mode, too.
But the headline is this Magma can surge from 0-60 mph in a breathtaking 3.4 seconds whilst providing the augmented sensory perception of a high performance internal combustion car to awaken that fizz from within.

About the Magma
Director of Genesis and Customer Strategy at Genesis Motor UK, Ben Sargeant commented: “GV60 Magma represents the very best of Genesis. As the brand’s first high-performance model, it brings together elevated design, outstanding performance credentials and market-leading technology in a way that signals the next chapter for the brand. We look forward to introducing this new expression of luxury high-performance to our customers when it arrives in the UK later this year.”

Interior
Inside, you’ll find a large 27-inch widescreen display stretching from the driver to the far centre of the dashboard that Genesis refers to in a tongue twisting “panoramic connected car Integrated Cockpit (ccIC)”- I bet you can’t say that 5 times in a row quickly.
Both the seats and interior trim are treated to suede materials with aluminium accents. And as if the bright orange paintwork didn’t give away what you were driving, the steering displays that Magma button for those dedicated driving modes.
You can even opt for contrasting Magma orange, or Ash white stitching on the on the electrically adjustable performance bucket seats.

The Performance Bits
The Magma has a wider track increasing its stance by 50 mm as well as having a 20 mm lower ride height. Both give this GV60 a purposeful look.
Upgrades to the front and rear bumper, as well as side skirts and a rear spoiler aim to enhance its athletic capabilities.
From the panoramic connected car Integrated Cockpit system, features such as Virtual Gear Shift, Drift Mode and High-Performance Battery Control can be accessed.
Whilst the steering-wheel mounted Magma button enables driving modes called SPRINT, GT Mode and Launch Control.
SPRINT mode provides peak performance specifically designed for use at a track for engaged, thrill-focused driving.
GT Mode is focused more on comfort and efficiency for high-speed cruising.
Essentially, it’s a best-of-both world car, designed to appeal to those who may find themselves in a mid-life crisis seeking thrills on track days, whilst also being a family-friendly car.
Launch Control is included to deliver with “tailored traction control settings, allowing rapid and responsive acceleration from a standstill and delivering full power without needing to press the boost button”.
The BOOST button provides an additional boost in power and torque specifically enhanced for the GV60 Magma. With 650 HP and 790 NM available at the tap of the foot and a touch of that magic BOOST button, this Genesis tops out at 164 mph. The mode activation will last for 15 seconds, providing the ultimate driving experience for the Magma driver.
The MAGMA and BOOST buttons
The suspension system has been optimised to deliver greater cornering stability, featuring an Electronic Control Suspension system that “include Hydro G-Bushes in the front suspension and dual-layer bushings in the rear crossmember”. They aim to minimise vibrations and improve ride comfort whilst “delivering greater control under high cornering loads”.
The brakes get front monoblock callipers and large-diameter 400mm discs with the rear brakes being enhanced for overall braking performance.
The Magma comes as standard with 21” forged wheels clad in Pirelli tyres, with Magma Orange brake callipers on display through those large wheels.

Charging and Audio
As with a lot of Hyundai Group EV’s the GV60 Magma is built on 800v architecture providing super-rapid charging speeds with a 10-80% charge at a compatible DC charger taking just 18 minutes. Just enough time to grab a coffee and use the facilities.
A state-of-the-art 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system supports both entertainment and the car’s performance sound architecture.
Genesis states “The Active Sound Design+ (e-ASD+) system works in conjunction with external speakers to harmonise interior and exterior acoustics. When VGS is switched on, the system delivers realistic engine tone, simulating the traditional engine sound of high-performance V6-powered cars. When VGS is switched off, the system incorporates sounds inspired by Goodwood Festival of Speed, incorporating EV-specific characteristics to create a fully immersive driving experience.”
Summary
The Genesis GV60 Magma consolidates premium, luxury, technology and outright performance in one family-focused package.
With prices yet to be announced, and with the sound of an artificial roaring V6 to tempt you, along with augmented gear shifts, it could even rival performance SUV’s such as the BMW X4 M.
If pictures and articles don’t quite get that fizz going, Genesis has the Magma on display at Genesis Studio Battersea until the end of March.
And customer deliveries are planned for the second half of 2026, but interest can be registered online or at their local Genesis retailer now.
If the Genesis GV60 appeals, but you can’t wait for the Magma, or your budget won’t stretch that far, you can see Jim’s review of the GV60 Premium here.
