Nissan Refreshes its X-Trail for 2026

To keep the X-Trail fresh, Nissan has given its large SUV a makeover for 2026.

The front has been given a heavy facelift with a new grille and bumper, plus the updated N-Trek trim showing off a bolder, more rugged look with added toughness and red accents to draw in attention.

Cliodhna Lyons, Region Vice President, Product, Services & Marketing Strategy, Nissan AMIEO said, “Over 25 years of X‑Trail, our customers have come to love its sense of adventure, practicality, and advanced all‑wheel‑drive powertrains. The new X‑Trail delivers even more of these qualities, bringing stronger design character, smarter technology, and the confidence of Nissan’s unique e-POWER technology.”

Comfort

Nissan claims to have updated the interior comfort with “chestnut brown premium quilted leather upholstery, a refined brown wood-effect console trim, and a high-quality synthetic leather option”.

Standard features include heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, three zone air conditioning and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. There are additional options such as a BOSE 10-speaker premium sound system and a heated windscreen (standard on the Tekna trim).

Tech

Google is built-in for the first time on the X-Trail and customers are able to access its AI Google Assistant for natural language voice commands that can control various aspects of the vehicle, such as the heating system, heated seats and heated windscreen. You can even ask it to navigate to a new destination, or tell it who to make a phone call to or send a message to, and all without the need to take eyes off the road.

Thanks to built-in Google, it’s now fully updatable via over-the-air software updates keeping the car up-to-date over time.

The bird’s-eye-view system now uses wide-angle exterior cameras for enhanced 360° viewing mode at low speeds, plus there’s a new T-Junction view and an invisible bonnet mode, useful when off-roading, or venturing near kerbs.

T-Junction View offers a wide forward perspective when navigating concealed exits with limited visibility.

e-Power

The 2026 X-Trail is offered with e-POWER, Nissan’s hybrid drivetrain. The engine acts as an onboard generator and never directly drives the wheels. Nissan claims “e-POWER delivers full electric motor drive for instant torque, smooth acceleration, and EV-like refinement without the need for charging”, albeit you will need to refill its petrol tank regularly.

And e-Power can be paired with Nissan’s e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system and the N-Trek trim for customers who may venture out onto off-road lanes, farm tracks or picnic areas, for example.

N-Trek offers many styling upgrades for a more rugged appearance, but inside it has CellCloth® waterproof upholstery to repel water staying dry to the touch.

There’s also waterproof rubber mats and a reversible cargo liner in the boot as standard.

Specs

The 2WD X-Trail has 204 hp and 330 Nm of torque with the AWD gaining an additional motor for 213 hp and a combined 525 Nm of torque.

The 2WD X-Trail will be able to accelerate to 60 mph in 8.0 seconds with the AWD completing the same sprint in 7.0 seconds.

Both the 2WD and 4WD claim to hit an average fuel consumption figure of 49.6 mpg and can tow up to 1,800 kg.

The updated 2026 Nissan X-Trail is available to order now, in Acenta Premium, N-Connecta, N-Trek and Tekna trims, with prices starting from £38,220.
