MG S9 Plug-in Hybrid 7-Seater SUV Hits Showrooms This Month
Joining the wave of launches this week is the new MG S9, a 7-seat Plug-In Hybrid SUV from Chinese manufacturer SAIC.
Trying to snatch attention in this market is tricky, but MG seems to have a unique selling point with a focus on space and low on-the-road prices ranging from £34,205 to £36,945 (approximately the same as a mid-spec Volkswagen Golf).
With the 3rd row of seats folded away MG claims there is up 1,000+ litres of cargo space in the boot, but even with the 3rd row of seats in place, the boot is decent enough at 332 litres. Plenty for the weekly groceries and a little more.
MG S9
Unlike the Jaecoo 8 in the previous article, MG isn’t trying to sell this as a luxury car. Instead it’s a bread and butter offering, focusing on what matters most such as the 24.7kWh battery with its 62 miles of electric range - “more than enough for most commutes or daily family duties” as MG claims. But combined with a very low entry point to a 7-seat SUV, it will also have exceptionally low running costs especially when frequently plugged in.
MG S9 PHEV
The all-new MGS9 PHEV is MG’s largest car but it comes with a comprehensive specification level, such as leather-style seats that are heated, ventilated, as well as massaging, and tri-zone air conditioning keeping all the occupants comfortable. There’s also a large panoramic sunroof to provide an airy feeling, too.
MG stats that full specification details will be announced later this month when the first cars arrive in MG showrooms.
