Jaecoo 8: New Luxury AWD 7-Seat SUV Plug-In Hybrid with 83 miles of EV only Range

It seems Chinese manufacturer Chery has a lot to offer with a flurry of its brands hitting the market over the last year from parent brand Chery and it’s other brands Omoda, LEPAS and Jaecoo.
But not content with leaving it at that, Chery has just launched a flagship car with the new Jaecoo 8 Super-Hybrid AWD 7-seat large SUV.

Jaecoo 8 Super-Hybrid Executive

The Jaecoo 8 is a handsome car with perhaps an element of mainstream looks to it, but that’s not a bad thing if it wants to attract customers away from other brands.

The Jaecoo pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 3-speed DHT automatic transmission from parent company Chery, and a large battery pack and motor that can drive in EV only mode for up to 83 miles.

Jaecoo claims that with the battery fully charged and the petrol tank brimming, it can travel for 700+ miles, enough for a non-stop trip from London to Milan, bladder allowing.
But, if you did stop, the Jaecoo 8 can rapid charge at 40 kW providing a 30%-80% charge in 20 minutes. It also has 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load capability enough to run an oven and more.

With the all-wheel drive (AWD) system engaged, this Jaecoo is no slouch, taking this large land-ship from 0-62 mph in a mere 5.8 seconds thanks to 428 PS and 580 Nm on tap.

Jaecoo 8 Doing Off-Roading

But it’s talents don’t end there as this is an off-roader capable of wading through water to a maximum depth of 600 mm whilst carrying 2,021 litre of cargo with all the rear seats folded.

Adaptive suspension ensures a comfortable ride whatever the road surface is and this plays to Jaecoo’s strength, because the 8 Super-Hyrbid is available as a 7-seat family transporter or a 6-seater executive limousine.

Inside, the JAECOO 8 offers plenty of luxury, such as four heated and ventilated seats and, in 6-seat configuration, massaging captain’s chairs with extendable thigh support for the driver.
There’s even a panoramic glass roof to gaze through from those Captain’s chairs, too.

Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto are also included and the charging pads are cooled for passive thermal management of the mobile phones on charge.

Up front there’s a dual 12.3-inch displays and a 14 SONY speaker sound system – plus 2 headrest speakers for an immersive in-car experience.
Adding to the luxury is Nappa leather seating designed for a first-class environment for all occupants.

It’s other strength is pricing as the 7-seat JAECOO 8 SHS-P Luxury will start from £45,500 OTR, while the 6-seat JAECOO 8 SHS-P Executive will start from £47,500 OTR with the only optional extra being paint.

And, the cherry on top (pardon the pun) is a comprehensive 7-year/100,000-mile warranty, with an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery as standard for peace-of-mind motoring, or peace-of-mind wafting is perhaps more appropriate.

You can order a new Jaecoo 8 now with deliveries expected to start in May 2026.
