New Volkswagen ID. Cross Previewed in Camouflage
Volkswagen has released some pictures and a few details of its forthcoming ID. Cross compact SUV, VW’s 6th ID model to be launched.
It shares the same MEB+ underpinnings as the Skoda Epiq that we covered in February which had some impressive stats.
The battery choices are the same at 37 kWh and 53 kWh net with three different power output options from 85 kW, 99 kW and 155 kW that translates to 115 bhp, 135 bhp and 204 bhp.

DC charging will be 90 kW on the smaller pack, taking 28 minutes to charge from 10%-80% and 105 kW on the larger battery pack for a 23 minute recharge using the same measurement.
If we are to pinch some stats from the Skoda Epiq and make some educated assumptions, the ID. Cross on the smaller 38.5 kWh LFP battery pack should be good for approximately 195 miles of range. And the larger NMC battery pack should be capable of approximately 260+ miles of range.
These are impressive stats given the modest sizes of the batteries.
The ID. Cross smile
And just like the Skoda Epiq, the ID. Cross will be front wheel drive which will free up space at the back for a class leading 475 litres of boot space, plus there’s even a 22 litre ‘Frunk’ (front trunk) which is more than suitable for storing occasional objects, like a charging cable, a tyre inflator, or maybe even the bag of bags that normally flies around the boot ready for the next supermarket trip.
ID. Cross Dimensions
The ID. Cross footprint is similar to the Volkswagen T-Cross, their smallest SUV. But internally it’s perhaps as spacious as the larger T-ROC.
And when you consider Volkswagen is aiming to sell the ID. Cross from approximately €28,000 (around £24,000), it potentially undercuts the lowest priced petrol T-CROSS. Although, official prices have yet to be announced.
ID. Cross profile
Volkswagen hasn’t revealed any interior shots yet, but they state “The interior also conveys a sense of calm and clarity, while the materials and workmanship are oriented towards higher vehicle classes. Five seats, efficient use of space and intuitive functions and buttons as well as large format displays round off the high-quality overall impression.”
There’s no information on whether the ID. Cross will receive the same, all-new software and hardware integration as the upcoming ID.3 NEO, although it would be hard to imagine Volkswagen not aligning their ID range to the same software stack.
We will have to wait until Autumn 2026 for the official launch, but if Volkswagen releases more information on the ID. Cross beforehand, we’ll keep you updated.
