Legendary Audi A2 to Return as an EV
Audi pioneered the economical, urban family car over 25 years ago when it launched the brilliant, and much coveted, Audi A2. It was perhaps a crossover between a traditional hatchback and 5-seat MPV, offering plenty of interior space on a small footprint, but tuned for high efficiency.
Now, the electric car platform can offer exactly that again as Audi will reveal it’s all-new A2 e-tron in the autumn. However, for now, we only have a silhouette and some imagination to salivate over until the full reveal later this year.

Audi have released no further information, but if I was to speculate, it comes off the back of Volkswagen and Skoda completing final testing of the new ID. Cross and Epiq that we reported on recently, so the A2 could be related to those two cars which would offer a similar compact footprint with a spacious interior if utilising the same platform.
But with Audi being the premier family car company in the Volkswagen group, expect different specs and a more premium cabin with more different materials and switchgear.

CEO Gernot Döllner stated “We’ve listened. Our customers want electric mobility that impresses in everyday life. The A2 e-tron is our promise to deliver exactly that – efficient, compact, and confident. We’re making entry into the electric Audi world easier and more relevant than ever,”.
Audi will make the new A2 in Ingolstadt on a new production line securing jobs whilst delivering home-grown electric vehicles for domestic and export markets.
When more details trickle through, we will keep you informed.
