Kia Announces First Vehicles Eligible for the UK EV Grant
Kia UK has announced a major milestone in its electrification journey, with the Kia EV4 and Kia PV5 Passenger becoming the brand’s first vehicles to qualify for the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG). This development makes owning a Kia electric vehicle more accessible and affordable than ever.
£1,500 Electric Car Grant Now Available
All EV4 ‘Air’ models and PV5 Passenger ‘Essential’ and ‘Plus’ grades are eligible for the Band 2 Electric Car Grant, providing £1,500 off the on-the-road (OTR) purchase price. The grant applies across both battery options for each vehicle, helping more UK drivers make the switch to zero-emission motoring.
Eligible Kia models combine advanced battery technology, practical design, and the brand’s renowned seven-year/100,000-mile warranty (with eight years of cover for the high-voltage battery), offering long-term peace of mind for new EV owners.
Paul Philpott, President & CEO of Kia UK, commented:
“We are delighted that Kia customers can now benefit from the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant. This milestone demonstrates our commitment to making electric mobility accessible, practical, and affordable. With the support of the grant, even more drivers can experience the innovation, reliability, and sustainability that Kia electric vehicles have become known for. This eligibility comes at an important time, as our nationwide network of PBV Centres becomes operational, delivering the new award-winning PV5 to customers.”

About the UK Electric Car Grant
The UK Government’s Electric Car Grant is available exclusively to electric vehicles that meet strict criteria covering emissions, range, sustainability, and warranty support. To qualify, manufacturers must also have Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) verification, ensuring greenhouse gas reduction targets align with keeping global warming below critical levels and achieving net-zero by 2050.
Kia’s Sustainable Journey
Kia continues to lead the transition to sustainable mobility. By 2030, the brand will have introduced 15 electric vehicles and 10 hybrid models, while all Kia manufacturing sites will be powered by 100% renewable energy by 2040. Looking further ahead, Kia aims to achieve carbon neutrality across the entire product lifecycle by 2045, supported by initiatives such as RE100, life cycle assessments for all models, and an expanded electrification strategy.
