BYD’s Denza Z9 GT Headed for U.K. with FLASH Charging
Denza is the premium brand from BYD and was founded in partnership with Daimler back in 2010. Since then Denza is seen as the pinnacle of BYD’s premium technology, and its Z9 GT showcases just that.

BYD will launch the Denza Z9 in Europe and the U.K. later this year as a pure electric car or a plug-in hybrid that is said to have a “colossal'“ battery only range.
Later, Denza will launch the D9, an MPV with a business class interior complemented with advanced technology, space and comfort.
Whilst BYD in an abbreviation for Build Your Dreams, DENZA is an abbreviation for:
Diverse
Elegance
Noval
Zenith
Aspirational
Fortunately, that’s not spelled out on the back of the car, but BYD claims “Every letter of the DENZA name itself relates to a key attribute of the brand's values.” Essentially it’s both a name and a mission statement.
Denza is aiming to wow customers with combining elegant finesse and premium craftsmanship, and by the looks of the pictures, they may well have hit the right spot as the Z9 exudes an air of quality and luxury inside with carefully selected materials and fabrics that embrace premiumness.
Externally, the Z9 GT is design to slip through the air like a migrating Goose providing stability at speed. But being a shooting brake, it also offers a high level of practicality with a decent sized boot and a large front trunk.
Built on the Denza only e3 Platform, it has a three-motor set-up for independent drive, plus rear-wheel dual-motor independent steering and Cell-to-Body battery integration.
However, the standout feature, and Denza’s USP is this is BYD’s first car to feature the all-new Blade Battery 2.0. It’s 5% more energy dense, but it also features what BYD call FLASH Charge.
Flash Charge is a new technology that allows near petrol pumping recharge times. BYD demonstrated this in a recent event showing its new battery being rapid charged in minutes, and peaking at 1.5 MW.
This translates to a recharge time from 10%-97% in a mere 9 minutes. It will even do a 20%-97% at -30deg C recharge in just 12 minutes.

Denza Z9 GT
Denza describes this car as a 4-door GT shooting brake, similar to the Taycan Sport Turismo and it certainly looks set to be a strong competitor in the luxury GT segment, albeit with crazy-fast recharging times.
There’s no news on prices, specs or performance yet, but we will keep you informed as we find out.
