AION UT Supermini on Sale from September

AION launched its first car in the U.K. this year with the AION V SUV along with its AION Great 8 Promise which includes an eight-year warranty, eight years’ servicing, eight years’ roadside assistance and MOT until the car is eight years old. And this AION 8 Promise is also applied to its all-new UT supermini.

Some specs have been revealed, such as its 60 kWh battery which is good for 268 miles of range on the WLTP test cycle. It will rapid charge from 30% - 80% in 24 minutes, and for a small hatchback, it’s tickling the hot hatch territory with its powerful 204 PS motor and very decent 0-60 mph sprint in 7.3 seconds.

AION promises that its little hatchback will provide class-leading interior space, quality and premium-levels of refinement. However, prices have yet to be revealed.

The UT will be available in five colours at launch and specs include heated front seats, 14.6” central touch screen and 360° surround-view camera.

To keep things simple for customers to a new brand, there’s only one trim level, but it can be enhanced by an optional Premium Pack which adds a panoramic glass roof, powered tailgate, ventilated driver’s seat and wireless phone charging.

AION wants to get its first supermini right, so it was designed Europe, and engineered for UK roads, which required modifications to the springs, dampers, bump-stops and calibration, as well as a revised anti-roll bar, to ensure it meets British customers tastes and our roads.

The AION Great 8 Promise - which is standard - is VIN-locked meaning that it stays linked to the vehicle, even after ownership has transferred to another driver. As well as being an extensive aftersales package, but it may help keep its residual value from tanking on the used market, whilst also building trust with a new brand.
