Volkswagen ID.Buzz Receives the VW Group Tech Refresh

Volkswagen Group has been rolling out its technology upgrades across its brands this year, and we recently reported about the updated Volkswagen ID.3 Neo and the raft of updates it received. These were partly requested by VW Group customers and partly Volkswagen offering new-to-brand features and functions as it keeps up with its competitors.

Buttons is a hot topic this year and it’s something Volkswagen customers have been asking for, and the ID.Buzz doesn’t disappoint. Physical buttons return to the steering wheel - to replace the previous haptic controls - to operate cockpit and infotainment functions.

Another perceived weakness of previous ID cars was the infotainment system and Volkswagen has worked to enhance and upgrade the experience for customers with its new Innovision infotainment system which brings a new integrated app store
This new app store allows functions and services to be added providing more flexibility and customisation such as various audio apps (music, podcast and more), plus video streaming, parking apps, charging apps and also gaming apps to keep the family entertained.

Volkswagen will offer Connected Travel Assist as an option which it states is an enhanced assist system that reacts to traffic lights by automatically braking the ID. Buzz to a standstill when it detects the appropriate light. It seems VW Group have a fitting punishment they can roll out to habitual red light jumpers…

Volkswagen has also enabled one-pedal driving which is a strong regen setting bringing the Buzz to a standstill without having to touch the brake pedal. Drivers can regulate the stopping distance via the accelerator alone allowing for less complexity in changing regen settings on the move.

Updated Volkswagen ID.Buzz Interior

Vehicle-to-load is also finding its way into many new EVs this year, with the ID.Buzz being the latest recipient. V2L enables electrical devices and small appliances to be powered directly from the high voltage battery. It’s limited to operate, or charge external devices up to 2.0 kW, useful for charging smaller batteries from eBikes, for example.

These new updates will be available for the ID.Buzz from summer of 2026, so check with your local Volkswagen dealer before ordering a new car that they will be included.
