Škoda Peaq - EV Flagship Pictures and Details

Expect lots of use of the word Peaq by Škoda’s flagship EV, because it maxes out on everything a large, family SUV has to offer.

For a start, there are not many 7-seat electric cars on sale, but Škoda will be adding one more with their new Peaq, and they promise it will have more than 600 km of range (372 miles).

Škoda also claims “peaq spaciousness” with a whopping 890 litres of boot space with the third row of seats folded (same as a small car-based van), and 299 litres with the third row in place.

Another first for Škoda is that the Peaq is their largest car in their range (not just EV) at nearly 4.9 metres in length, 1.7 metres in height and with a wheelbase of 2,965 millimetres, it is huge.

To give the Škoda some identity, the “TechDeck Face” - as they call the front panel - is illuminated and set on a glossy black panel with vertical slats and LED backlighting. Behind the face is a 37 litre front trunk (frunk), useful for storing charging cables, but not much more.

Top-spec Peaq’s - or peak Peaq’s - get full LED Matrix headlights providing maximum light with minimum dazzle. And to compliment the cars mass, wheel choices range from 19-inches to 21-inches.

Inside, the Škoda benefits from a 3 meter wheelbase with generous amount of leg, head and shoulder room, even in the 3rd row.

There are five interior designs available:

  • Loft Design Selection combines grey textile upholstery with black Techtona on the trim and seats.

  • Lodge Design Selection features grey embossed textile seats in combination with a green tone Techtona.

  • The Sportline Lounge Design Selection, which combines Suedia upholstery with Techtona.

  • At the top of the range are two Suite Design Selection options finished in Techtona, a high quality leather alternative, offered in black and a light grey called Ceramique.

Standard equipment for all trims lines has ambient lighting and a heated multifunctional steering wheel.

Self-presenting flush door handles are a key feature to the new Škoda as is the panoramic sunroof with Dynamic Shade Control. Using electrochromic technology the roof can be divided into nine individual segments offering shade to those who prefer it and sunlight to others.

The Peaq comes with the latest Android-based infotainment system, offering both native Škoda apps and third-party services such as Spotify, YouTube and Google Maps.

With “peaq comfort” customers can kick back and chill out with the “Relax Package” and access “ergonomic seats with a massage function, leg rests, Premium Sound by Sonos, and an integrated wellness app, transforming the cabin into a lounge on wheels”.

A new digital mobile key is also available so there will be no need to cart around a car key, which is useful when sharing the Peaq with multiple drivers.

There’s a 10-inch driver display and a 13.6-inch infotainment display with haptic controls as well as an augmented reality head-up display - with the latter available as an option.

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) comes as standard, although the adapter may be an additional purchase, where it allows the high voltage battery to power external devices, like a coffee machine, or to charge the batteries on an e-bike, for example.

If customers opt for the Volkswagen Group’s Ambibox DC Wallbox called MOON POWER it allows the car to power the home via bi-directional charging called Vehicle-to-Home (V2H).
This feature permits load-shifting by charging the car’s battery overnight, the power can be drawn from the car to run the house during the day, meaning cheaper rate electricity is used for all the household demands day or night.

Customers will be able to choose from three powertrain variants – the 60, 90, and 90x – delivering outputs ranging from 150 kW to 220 kW (204 bhp to 300 bhp) with the 90 and 90x powertrains capable of more than 372 miles of range.

Charging from 10 to 80 per cent at an appropriate DC rapid charger takes 28 minutes, with the 60 powertrain taking 27 minutes. It’s not class leading here and a missed opportunity for Škoda’s flagship car, but that is perhaps down to the Peaq utilising Škoda’s MEB platform.

The peak Peaq - the all-wheel-drive 90x - wafts from 0-62 mph in 6.7 seconds, but for lower spec models, there are no numbers on performance yet.

Škoda is yet to reveal launch dates, but with details and pictures released, it can’t be far off. As always, we will keep you updated as soon as Škoda makes the information available.
