Renault Adds One Pedal Driving to the R5
The news gets better for the amazing Renault 5. Not only did it win the U.K. Car of the Year Award back in February, as well as qualifying for the EV Car grant, but one omission at launch was there was no one-pedal driving option.
This is something that was not omitted in the recently launched Nissan Micra which shares the same CMF-B EV platform, and one pedal driving transformed the car giving it some the fun-factor, whilst improving efficiency.
Renault has noticed a surge in interest in the Renault 5 with online enquiries rising 42% recently, but they have also listened to feedback announcing the “Renault 5 E-Tech is available to order with a one-pedal driving function as standard on the techno+ trim and above”.
This will be a 4th option to the regenerative braking allowing for the car to come to a complete stop without touching the brake pedal.
Renault are also introducing a new driver attention alert system utilising the interior camera to detect signs of fatigue or distraction.
And for those looking to add a touch more style and personalisation to their R5, new ‘PoweR5’ decals for the rear wings are available.

Adam Wood, Managing Director, Renault UK, said: “In turbulent times, more and more people are realising the benefits of switching to electric. With a wider choice of more efficient, more desirable and more affordable electric cars than ever before, there’s never been a better time to make the switch.
“Not only are EVs are fun to drive, they are also cheaper to fuel than petrol equivalents, by an average of £650 a year for most motorists at today's prices. With Government grants also helping to lower upfront purchase costs, as well as a rapidly expanding charging network, EV ownership is more compelling than ever.”
The 52 kWh Renault 5 offers up to 252 miles (WLTP) of range and - with the full Electric Car Grant applied - prices start from £21,495 on-the-road for the entry-level 40 kWh Renault 5.
