LEPAS is a new premium brand from Chery International, and is a sister brand to Jaecoo, OMODA and Chery cars, with iCar and FREELANDER entering the U.K. market next year from the same group.

However, LEPAS aims to stand above a crowded market with more premium offerings, and the L6 is one of many models that will launch from the Chery spin-off over the coming years. It’s perhaps aimed at taking sales from the ‘yet-to-be-converted’ who may be swayed from their Hyundai Tucson or Nissan Qashqai for a similarly priced, more upmarket, and better equipped EV with striking looks.

The L6 is an all-electric C-segment SUV bringing the LEPAS styling, the groups technology and good levels of practicality. But is that enough for it to stand out? The price will perhaps dictate sucess, and that is yet to be revealed.

LEPAS describes the L6 EV as having “well-balanced dimensions are combined with a spacious interior, generous electric range and technology designed to make everyday driving easier.”

Battery, Range and Charging

One battery is offered, which is a 65kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery mated to a front-mounted electric motor producing 217 PS and 275Nm of torque. That provides a 0–62mph sprint in a respectable 7.9 seconds with a top speed limited to 111mph, which is plenty for a family-focused car.

Whilst its 279 mile WLTP range may not be competitive in a world where the 500 mile range BMW iX3 sets the benchmark, the LEPAS will provide it’s full battery capacity after every AC charge thanks to those LFP cells.

And charging is also average. Limited to 120kW DC, the LEPAS L6 can charge from 30% – 80% in approximately 22 minutes. Or to measure it against its peers, that’s likely to be a 10% to 80% charge in 30 minutes.

Trims

There are two (what LEPAS calls) generously equipped trim levels from Essence and Elevate and both models come with a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, dual-zone climate control, rear air vents and a heated multifunction steering wheel, whilst heated front windscreen, keyless entry and go and 40/60 split-folding rear seats are standard.

Both trims feature 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED headlights with Intelligent High Beam Assist, LED daytime running lights and LED rear lights. Electrically adjustable, heated and power-folding door mirrors with puddle lights are also standard as is privacy glass.

Front and rear parking sensors and a 540° panoramic camera system come as standard on both models, although Elevate adds Advanced Parking Assist (APA) and Remote Parking Assist (RPA).
For anyone curious, a 540° panoramic camera system combines a 360° surround-view around the car with a 180° transparent underbody view, useful when parking in a puddle filled area.

Over-the-Air (OTA) and Firmware-Over-the-Air (FOTA) updates will be rolled out to allow software and vehicle functions to be updated over time.

Essence, includes a comprehensive suite of technology, safety and comfort and features Basalt Black fabric upholstery and six-way manually adjustable front seats.

Elevate, adds further luxury with Basalt Black full leather-effect upholstery and six-way power adjustment for both front seats, with the driver also benefiting from four-way power lumbar adjustment.

Heated and ventilated front seats are standard on Elevate, along with a power tailgate, Nano-Aqua Ion Air Purification System and 256-colour ambient lighting to set the mood.

Interior

A wrap-around cockpit and a 13.2-inch waterfall-style central touchscreen dominate the interior because there is not much more to it. The aim is minimalism, but there are a few useful buttons on the dashboard and steering wheel, so it’s not completely devoid of tactile controls.

The interior is also bathed in light thanks to a panoramic sunroof on the Elevate time, and the LEPAS Intelligent LEX Platform provides a completely flat floor in the rear, especially useful for the occasional middle passenger sat on the rear bench. There is no third row.

Colours

Lucid White is a free colour choice, but for £500 more, customers can select Phantom Grey, Cosmic Black, Quicksilver, alongside the vibrant Solar Orange and Supernova Purple.

Size, Practicality and Boot Space

At 4,570mm long, 1,852mm wide (excluding mirrors) and 1,676mm high, the L6 EV is a similar size to the Audi Q4 e-tron. And with a 2,700mm wheelbase - given the cars segment - it offers decent passenger space, and 159 mm of ground clearance provides that coveted elevated ride height.

The boot is average at 410 litres of luggage space, which can be increased to 1,334 litres with the rear seats folded. However, there’s a further 99 litres of hidden underfloor storage that extends that boot to a more competitive 509 litres. There’s no news on a frunk, though.

Safety

The LEPAS was freshly developed to comply with 2026 Euro NCAP tests, meaning the L6 has a strong passenger structure and extensive airbag protection, as well as driver assistance technology and high-voltage battery protection all developed at the outset.

Both models feature 22 advanced driver assistance functions, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Emergency Lane Keeping, Blind Spot Detection and Traffic Jam Assist.

Rear Traffic Cross Alert and Rear Traffic Cross Braking are also standard, as well as Rear Collision Warning, Door Open Warning, Intelligent Speed Limit Control and Front Distance Monitoring.

Warranty and Availability

The LEPAS L6 EV comes with a 7-year/100,000-mile manufacturer warranty and an 8-year/100,000-mile high-voltage battery warranty.

It also has a 12-year/unlimited-mileage corrosion perforation guarantee and 3-year/unlimited-mileage paintwork guarantee is also included.

RAC Roadside Assistance is included for the first 12 months and is automatically renewed for up to seven years for no additional charge when scheduled servicing is completed at an authorised LEPAS service centre.

Order books for LEPAS L6 EV will open in early Q4 of 2026 with deliveries expected later on in the year, or early 2027.
