JAECOO 7 SHS Breaks 800-Mile Barrier in UK Economy Challenge

OMODA&JAECOO UK says its latest fifth-generation Super Hybrid System (SHS) has exceeded expectations after two of its plug-in hybrid models comfortably outperformed their official WLTP driving range during an independent UK economy challenge.

The headline result came from the JAECOO 7 SHS-P, which completed 828 miles on a single combined charge and tank of fuel, making it the first plug-in hybrid SUV currently on sale in the UK to surpass the 800-mile mark. The figure is 11.14% higher than the model's official WLTP combined range.

Joining it was the OMODA 7 SHS-P, which achieved 770 miles, exceeding its official WLTP figure by around 10%.

Unlike many efficiency demonstrations that focus on constant-speed motorway driving, the test was designed to replicate a broader mix of real-world conditions. Conducted at the Millbrook Proving Ground, both vehicles tackled a variety of test routes, including the facility's demanding hill course, rather than simply circulating the high-speed bowl.

The challenge was overseen by fleet management specialist Webfleet and led by economy-driving experts Kevin Booker and Sam Clarke, both of whom hold Guinness World Records for fuel-efficient driving.

The results provide further evidence of the capabilities of OMODA&JAECOO's fifth-generation Super Hybrid System, which combines a petrol engine with an electric motor and battery to maximise efficiency while reducing fuel consumption and extending overall driving range.

With buyers increasingly looking for electrified vehicles capable of long-distance journeys without frequent charging stops, the latest figures are likely to strengthen the appeal of the JAECOO 7 SHS-P in the growing plug-in hybrid SUV market.
