Fiat Topolino Micro EV Enters the U.K.

Topolino, translates to “little mouse” in Italian, and pays tribute to the original Fiat 500 Topolino produced between 1936 and 1955. However, in this incarnation, the Topolino is the non-identical twin to the Citroen Ami, and is going on sale in the U.K. priced from £8,995.

The Topolino is classified as a lightweight, all-electric quadricycle with a steering wheel, and it’s perfectly suited for inexpensive inner city driving, or short urban trips.

With up to 46 miles of range (WLTP) from its 5.5 kWh battery and 6 kW (8 hp) motor, it’s specs read like they’re from the original Topolino from 1936, not 2026. And it’s not far off, because the original Topolino from the 30’s actually had 13 hp, 5 hp more than the all-new Topolino!

However, it has been designed as modest and accessible transportation that’s easy-to-live with, and with a single-speed automatic transmission and a drive selector with Drive, Neutral and Reverse, it’s a simple, basic car for local tasks.

The Topolino is said to offer plenty of space on the inside for two adults, provided by a clever use of offset front seats. And if it’s shopping that the Topolino serves its purpose for, there’s up to 63-litres of storage, including the Dolce Vita Box, which is a fabric-topped compartment for personal items, and is found on top of the dashboard.

Kris Cholmondeley, managing director of FIAT UK, commented “Topolino is an important part of FIAT’s sustainable micromobility strategy, delivering simple, accessible urban mobility. It offers a practical solution for short journeys, leisure use and city environments, while fully embracing FIAT’s values of joy, simplicity and fun.”

Its diminutive dimensions make it an excellent inner city car, squeezing through the traffic and finding parking spaces where other cars don’t fit. And being that tiny, it has excellent visibility making for easy manoeuvrability.

The Fiat Topolino is now open for orders in the UK, but will be built to order through a network of selected UK retailers. On-the-road pricing starts at £8,995.
