BYD Is Bringing Eight New Cars to Goodwood FOS

BYD is arriving at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed with a clear message: it's no longer just another Chinese EV brand trying to gain a foothold in Europe. With eight major vehicle debuts spread across BYD, DENZA and YANGWANG, the company is using one of the world's most prestigious automotive events to showcase the breadth of its ambitions.

The biggest talking point is likely to be the global debut of the DENZA Z sports car. Revealed in both Coupe and hardcore Racing forms, the all-electric performance car promises supercar-rivalling credentials, including a claimed top speed of 217mph from its triple-motor powertrain. While the Racing version adds aggressive carbon-fibre aerodynamics, the standard Coupe aims to combine extreme performance with everyday usability through a practical 2+2 layout and usable luggage space.

Goodwood also marks DENZA's official UK launch. The premium brand will arrive with the Z9GT as its first UK model, while the D9 DM-i luxury MPV follows shortly afterwards. The latter looks set to target buyers seeking first-class comfort, offering reclining massage seats, extensive passenger technology and up to 130 miles of electric-only range.

SUV buyers won't be left out either. The DENZA BAO 5 makes its European debut at the Festival, combining three electric motors with a turbocharged petrol engine in an attempt to blend serious off-road ability with modern electrified performance.

For mainstream buyers, however, the most significant debut could be the BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i. Plug-in hybrid superminis are virtually non-existent in today's market, giving BYD an opportunity to carve out a unique position. With a claimed total range of 646 miles and practicality that rivals larger family hatchbacks, it could become one of the brand's most important UK launches to date.

BYD is also bringing its SHARK pick-up to Europe for the first time. The plug-in hybrid truck produces 435PS, can tow up to 2,500kg and accelerates from 0-62mph in just 5.7 seconds. Whether Europe is ready to embrace another large pick-up remains to be seen, but the performance figures certainly grab attention.

The luxury arm of the business, YANGWANG, is equally keen to make headlines. The U9 Xtreme arrives at Goodwood carrying some remarkable claims, including a Nürburgring lap record for a production EV and a verified top speed of 308.4mph. The Festival will effectively serve as its introduction to European buyers.

Alongside it will be the U7 luxury saloon, a technology showcase featuring four electric motors, four-wheel steering and BYD's advanced DiSus-Z active suspension system.

Beyond the cars themselves, BYD's presence at Goodwood is impossible to miss. Occupying a record-breaking 2,016-square-metre stand, the company is creating the largest manufacturer display in Festival of Speed history. Visitors can expect technology exhibits, off-road demonstrations, driving simulators, robots and hospitality areas alongside the extensive vehicle line-up.

The sheer scale of BYD's display reflects the company's growing confidence. While established European, Japanese and Korean manufacturers have traditionally dominated Goodwood's biggest headlines, BYD appears determined to prove it belongs in the same conversation.
