Suzuki Challenges the Honda Super-N with the All Electric e-Sky
It seems the Kei car may be making a resurgence in the new EV era as Suzuki announces the Vision e-Sky electric, micro car.
Back in the 90’s the U.K. welcomed Kei cars from the likes of Honda, Suzuki, Daihatsu and Perodua introducing compact, micro-city cars on to our streets, and some were even Roadsters, like the cheeky, little Daihatsu Copen. Although these micro cars had small 660 cc engines to be compliant with strict Japanese laws around what constitutes a Kei car, the introduction of a battery electric drivetrain will revolutionise the next wave of Kei cars heading to Europe.
It’s closest rival, the Honda Super-N, that recently launched in the U.K. was originally based on a Kei car, but thanks to those blistered wheel arches, it no longer qualifies. Whereas, the e-Sky will remain true to Kei car dimensions and specs.
The e-Sky is a mere 3,395 mm in length and 1,475 mm wide while the Honda is 200 mm longer and 100 mm wider. To provide some perspective, the MINI Cooper 3-Door is 3,876 mm long and 1,744 mm wide.
Suzuki claims a predicted range of up to 193 miles from its 26 kWh battery. If true, that means it’s capable of covering more than 7 miles per kWh, making it the most efficient production car on sale. And it also beets the Honda for range by over 60 miles.
Not much information is available on the small Suzuki, but we will bring more detail and more pictures as its released. The expected sale date is confirmed at some point in 2027.
