OMODA Introduces £25,740 Full-Hybrid SUV to the UK

Following the UK media launch of the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i, it’s been a busy week for Chinese rivals to the Kia Sportage.

OMODA UK has taken its next major step in electrification with the introduction of its first full-hybrid model, the OMODA 5 SHS-H. Designed for drivers who want the benefits of hybrid efficiency without changing how they refuel or charge, the SHS-H brings together bold design, everyday usability and impressive long-distance capability in a compact SUV package.

OMODA 5 SHS-H

At the heart of the OMODA 5 SHS-H is a 1.5-litre turbocharged full-hybrid powertrain paired with a dedicated hybrid automatic transmission. This self-charging system removes the need for plug-in charging while still delivering strong real-world efficiency. With a total driving range of more than 650 miles and fuel economy of up to 53 mpg, the SHS-H is well suited to commuting, family duties and longer motorway journeys alike.

Despite its efficiency-focused approach, performance remains a key strength. The OMODA 5 SHS-H accelerates from 0–62 mph in just 7.9 seconds, offering confident and responsive performance across urban and open-road driving.

The arrival of the SHS-H completes the OMODA 5 family, which now includes petrol, full-hybrid and fully electric options. This expanded range underlines OMODA’s commitment to providing genuine choice for UK drivers, allowing customers to select a powertrain that best matches their lifestyle without compromising on design or technology.

Visually, the OMODA 5 SHS-H retains the striking design that has defined the model since launch. For 2026, it benefits from a refreshed front grille and bumper design, along with updated alloy wheel styling that subtly enhances its on-road presence. Buyers can choose from five exterior colours, with selected options available in a two-tone finish for added individuality.

The OMODA 5 SHS-H is available in two trim levels, Knight and Noble, each offering a carefully considered specification. Knight provides a strong standard equipment list, including full LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual 12.3-inch digital displays, wireless smartphone connectivity and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems.

Noble builds on this foundation with a more comfort- and technology-focused approach. Additional features include a surround-view camera system, an upgraded SONY audio system, ambient interior lighting, and heated and ventilated front seats, creating a more premium driving experience.

With pricing starting from £25,740 on the road, the OMODA 5 SHS-H sits at the heart of the compact hybrid SUV segment, offering a compelling balance of technology, performance and value. All models are backed by a seven-year or 100,000-mile vehicle warranty, alongside an eight-year battery warranty, providing peace of mind for long-term ownership.

We’ll be test driving the car in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled for our first driving impressions soon.
