Ineos Offers the MoD the Grenadier

INEOS Automotive has partnered with SMT Defence and NMS UK with its INEOS Grenadier in an industrial collaboration to deliver a range of vehicles for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), called Team Grenadier.

The partnership is designed to deliver the core requirements for the MoD’s Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) programme. It will use the Grenadier 4X4 vehicle platform and call up its special operations and systems integration expertise.
Team Grenadier is targeting “operational effectiveness, supply-chain resilience and assured service-life support”.

In much the same ways that the previous generations of the Land Rover Defender served the MoD through its flexible platform architecture, the INEOS Grenadier has many similarities with its ladder-frame chassis, permanent four-wheel drive, beam axles and high payload capacity. All of this provides a simple, robust base for military adaptation for the variety of roles and operating environments that it will serve in.

Mike Whittington - Chief Commercial Officer, INEOS Automotive, said: “A defining advantage of the industrial collaboration is its British ownership, onshore assembly and local supply chain. It brings strategic benefits in operational independence and resilience with security and regulatory alignment – delivering on the MoD’s core objectives. Grenadier’s unrivalled capability and inherent strength provide an obvious starting point for mission-critical transport.”

SMT Defence adds specialist expertise for design, integration and delivery of bespoke mission-critical vehicles for elite and specialist military users.

NMS UK provides the integration and support from its Armoured and Protected platform development business, but it also ensures quality and provides fleet assurance to deliver at scale, and on time.

INSOES says “the Grenadier Multi-Role Light Vehicle (MRLV) is one of nine modular LMV applications, each underpinned by the Grenadier’s strong ladder frame and heavy-duty axles. Already proven in demanding operational environments by fire, police and rescue services around the world, the platform offers exceptional cross-country mobility, outstanding durability and straightforward maintenance, making it ideally suited to long-term military service”.
