Chery to Launch a New Hybrid Compact SUV

Chinese brand Chery, who also own Jaecoo, Omoda and LEPAS brands, has launched its own Tiggo 4 CSH hybrid compact SUV starting at £19,995 on the road.

This B-segment compact SUV is Chery’s first full hybrid utilising Chery’s fifth generation of the their Super Hybrid powertrain. The Tiggo 4 comes with a 1.5 litre petrol engine and 1.84 kwh battery. This automatic only SUV produces a combined 204 PS and a very decent 310 Nm of torque, which should make for effortless driving.

With a comprehensive 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery, it should offer buyers with a peace-of-mind ownership experience and help to keep residual values at a reasonable level.

The Tiggo 4’s enters a saturated market comprised of top-sellers such as the Renault Captur, Honda HR-V, Kia Niro, Peugeot 2008 and many more, so it’s extended warranty and low starting price will have to do the initial heavy lifting for this relatively new brand to the U.K. market.

The inside sets a premium-looking tone with a large drivers display and matching centre display. The dashboard appears to be fuss-free, but has some select haptic buttons on both the steering wheel and centre console, whilst the two cup holders look large enough for water bottles and coffee cups.

Stitching on the doors and dashboard add to a sense of perceived quality with a brushed metal affect trim in the centre adding a touch of class.

Chery states “full specifications and pricing for the CHERY TIGGO 4 CSH will be announced in the coming weeks. Pre-order books are open now via CHERY’s expanding retailer network.”
