BMW Range Increases for the iX1, iX2 and MINI Countryman E
The BMW iX1 and iX2 received a boost in range for both the eDrive20 and xDrive30 all-wheel drive versions.
Whilst the battery capacity has increased by a minimal amount from 64.6kWh to 65.2kWh, new electronic components in the inverter along with the slight battery capacity increase, and a raft of efficiency improvements that BMW are keeping under wraps, range has increased by around 8-9% for both the iX1 and iX2.
That means the iX1 eDrive20 range increases from 293 miles to 318 miles. Whilst the xDrive30 version can now reach 288 miles on the WLTP test cycle.
BMW iX2
For the iX2, it’s a similar story with the eDrive20 increasing its range to 318 miles and the xDrive30 capable of achieving 294 miles of range (WLTP).
However, whilst 318 miles is a very usable amount of range for most people, there is still only one battery option available for the iX1 and iX2 leaving BMW unable to compete on outright range with other manufacturers. The larger pack option in the Peugeot E3008 offers up to 435 miles of range, for example.
Prices for the BMW eDrive20 Sport start at £43,555 rising to £55,145 for the xDrive30 Shadow Edition. The BMW iX2 costs £335 more across the range than the iX1.
MINI Countryman E
However, as the iX1 shares the same platform with the MINI Countryman E, it too receives the same updates increasing the MINIs range to 307 miles and the MINI Countryman SE ALL4 can now reach 287 miles on the WLTP test cycle.
BMW Group states the MINI Countryman electric now qualifies for the full £3,750 discount as part of the government’s ECG scheme.
The MINI Countryman E starts at £29,995 for the Classic rising to £43,950 for the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4.
