BMW iX1 and iX2 Get a Significant Price Drop
Both the iX1 and iX2 now qualify for the Band 1 Electric Car Grant on qualifying models making them £3,750 less expensive, however to do that BMW has also dropped the price of its fully electric iX1 and iX2 range of SUVs.
If you’re wondering how BMW has received the electric car grant for their cars that are priced above £37,000, the ECG is attracted to cars up to £42,000 provided the base model sits below £37,000. So, BMW has taken full advantage of this clause with its entry-level electric SUV which should be priced below £37,000 for the range to qualify.
But, looking at the new prices makes little sense, because the reported base model is now priced at £37,065 indicating a breach of ECG rules as it sits above the qualifying threshold price. If a dare to speculate, there could be further discounting, or there perhaps could be another lower entry model in the pipeline that has yet to be declared.
BMW iX1 eDrive20 Sport was £43,555, discounted by BMW to £37,065 and after the ECG is £33,315
BMW iX1 eDrive20 xLine was £45,555, discounted by BMW to £39,065 and after the ECG is £35,315
BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport was £48,305, discounted to £41,815 and after the ECG is £38,065
BMW iX2 eDrive20 Sport is a new entry at £37,065 and after the ECG is £33,315
BMW iX2 eDrive20 M Sport was £49,705, discounted by BMW to £41,815 and after the ECG is £38,065
However BMW has wangled this, it’s extremely good news for customers who can now access a BMW SUV for a little over £33,000, making the line-up much more attractive at a time when Chinese manufacturers are offering high-spec, lower cost SUVs.
Debbie McIntosh, Sales Director at BMW UK, said: “Securing the full Electric Car Grant for the BMW iX1 and BMW iX2 is an important step in making premium electric mobility more accessible to customers across the UK. With their combination of driving enjoyment, quality and everyday practicality, both models are a compelling choice for customers considering an all-electric BMW.”
