Alpine A390 Arrives with £61k Price Tag

Renault’s sports car brand has opened order books for the Alpine A390, a car that it describes as an electric Sports Fastback. However, it’s perhaps best described as a family sports crossover with 5 seats and a 532 litre boot.

The Alpine utilises an 89 kWh battery that provides up to 345 miles of range (WLTP) on the GT and Premier Addition trims, and 312 miles of range on the GTS trim.

If its outright performance that you’re after the GTS will accelerate off the line etching a permanent grin on the face in just 3.9 seconds as it passes 62 mph thanks to its 470 PS motor, and huge 825 Nm of torque.

The GT and Premier Addition are no slouch, either. With 400 PS they will do the same sprint in 4.8 seconds, which is still extremely grin inducing.

To ensure all that power is transferred to the road, the Alpine uses a torque vectoring system that they say is “enabled by two independent motors on the rear axle, allowing precise control of torque at each wheel.”

DC rapid charging is rated up to 190kW, and Alpine claims that the A390 can charge from 15-80 percent in 25 minutes on a compatible DC charger.

As with many EV’s coming to market this year, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability is standard from an 11 kW onboard AC charger with a 22kW unit fitted only as an option, unless buying for the Premiere Edition where it’s a standard fit item.

The oddly named “immersive feel@one cockpit” has two high-definition screens: a 12.3-inch driver display and a 12-inch central central display featuring Google built-in services with an EV route planner, and over-the-air software updates.

All trims get a reverse pedestrian warning and reverse parking exit warning, a front, side and rear parking assistance and a 360° camera with around view monitor, plus an extensive array of driver safety aids.

There is also a Devialet® high-fidelity audio system with 13 speakers and wireless smartphone replication Android Auto™ / Apple CarPlay® as standard.

The GTS adds 21” SNOWFLAKE diamond-cut forged wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, black Alcantara headliner, Alpine Sport seat by Sabelt® with two-tone Nappa leather, driver & passenger 8-way powered memory and heated with massage function, an upgraded sound system and the DRIVING pack for active driver assist and hands free parking parking.

Nicola Burnside, Brand Director, Alpine, said: “With its blend of expressive design, bespoke electric performance and the dynamic spirit that defines every Alpine, the A390 marks an important step in the brand’s transition to a fully electric future – one that remains firmly centred on driving pleasure.”

Order books open on 14 April for A-Pass holders, but prices for the Alpine can be shared:

  • A390 GT – from £61,390 on-the-road

  • A390 Premiere Edition – from £65,390 on-the-road (limited to 390 examples)

  • A390 GTS – from £69,390 on-the-road
